Heat Pumps

What does Kathy think of Isley's.....
Prompt, courteous, and professional.
I have worked at this hotel since 1986, and Isley's Home Services has done the majority of the work we have had done. They did the air conditioners, some of the plumbing, and water heaters, and they always stand behind their products. They are also very prompt, courteous, and professional.
Even when the air outside your Phoenix area home feels cold, it still contains thermal energy heat. For example, at 0°F the air contains almost 90% of the heat it contains at 70°F. Surprisingly, some heat is present in the air even all the way down to 460°F below zero.

WHY IT WORKS SO WELL

It takes less energy to transfer heat than to produce it. That’s why the heat pump is so efficient. It can deliver more than two units of heat for each unit of electricity it uses. This efficiency means it costs less to run a heat pump in the Phoenix area than other heating and Air Conditioning systems. The actual cost of operation varies with your lifestyle, the location, how well insulated your home is and the weather.

HOW HEAT PUMPS WORK

Just as your refrigerator expels heat from its interior into your kitchen, the heat pump extracts warmth from cool air and moves it elsewhere. Depending on the season, a heat pump acts as a heating or a cooling system for your Phoenix, AZ Home.

Summer Cooling in Phoenix

When used for summer cooling, the indoor coil extracts heat from the air inside Phoenix home. The heat is then carried to the outdoor unit and released to the outside.

Winter Heating in Phoenix

In winter, the reverse takes place. The outdoor coil extracts heat from the air. Refrigerant gas carries heat to the indoor unit where circulating air picks up the heat and carries it throughout your Phoenix area home. Cold weather forces the heat pump to work to extract heat from the cold air.

LOOK AT THE SEER RATING

Choose a heat pump with a high SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating for your Phoenix are home. The higher the rating, the lower the operating cost will be. Energy Guide labels with SEER ratings are posted on all air conditioners and heat pumps.

Don't Forget the HSPF

Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF) is the most common use of measure for the Heating efficiency of Heat Pumps. The higher the HSPF the more efficient the Heat Pump.

Are Some Heat Pumps Better Than Others?

Of course, energy efficiency is key, but when making your selection remember, low operating costs are little comfort if service and repair bills are high. Do not be sold on energy efficiency alone.  Look for a Heat Pump Air Conditioning System with a Scroll Compressor, the majority of models with SEER ratings of 14 and above have Scroll compressors. The Scroll compressor's major moving parts travel in a circular pattern, instead of an up and down motion as with a standard reciprocating Air Conditioning compressor. A similar comparison is to that of a jet engine versus a standard combustion engine. Because of this, scroll compressors are reported to have a longer life. This is of great importance with the sizzling summers we have here in Phoenix Arizona.
